WHY YOU SHOULD INSPECT YOUR COMMERCIAL ROOF THIS HURRICANE SEASON

Gulf-Coast living is a wonderful thing. The weather is mild, the breezes stir the air, life is slow and easy. That is, until hurricane season. Then things change. As storms form, people begin to think about protecting their assets and their lives.

Your building protects your assets. The roof is a large portion of that protection. As a major investment when it was put on, it should be watched carefully over time to assure that it is in the best possible condition. While this is important everywhere, on every roof, we feel safe in saying that Gulf Coast roofs need more attention than others when it comes to wind and hail damage.

If you currently are not getting regular inspections done, here are a few reasons to consider scheduling one now:

ESTABLISH A BASELINE CONDITION TO COMPARE TO AFTER AN EVENT

If you are not a customer of All-South Subcontractors (with a maintenance agreement that includes inspections) then we would like to recommend that you get an inspection on a regular basis. This gives you some indication of the condition of the roof in its current best condition. If you do nothing else, at least you will know what to expect if severe storms come your way. If issues are found, and you take care of them right away, you can set yourself up for a better situation down the road.

DETERMINE WEAR PATTERNS AND ISSUES WHICH MAY NEED ADDRESSED SOON

An inspection will show any issues that may have come up since your last repairs or inspection were completed. If you are not getting periodic scheduled maintenance done, you could have issues which have worsened over time. Although our inspection cycle would have caught this, and we could have already headed it off before the damage intensified, it is NOT too late to call All-South and start taking care of your roof. Normal wear and tear can shorten the life of your roof, even if there are no major storms to up the ante.

SCHEDULE REPAIRS OF ANY WEAK AREAS WHICH COULD BE FURTHER IMPACTED BY HIGH WINDS OR TORRENTIAL RAINFALL

Commercial roofing is a broad concept that can include different types of roofing membranes built from a several materials, including rubber. Some of the most common types are:

Now is the time to locate areas of mild to severe damage which have just occurred or have been missed until now. Hurricanes are not a good situation when the roof is in good condition. Having areas susceptible to wind or rain is just asking for trouble.

HEAD INTO THE SEASON UNDER THE BEST POSSIBLE CIRCUMSTANCES

By battening down the hatches, so to speak, and getting your roof set up for any events that may come, you can minimize the risk under most circumstances. Short of a direct hit, it is a known fact that a maintained roof will perform as expected during the hurricane season.

All-South Subcontractors has built a great client base on our outstanding service. From installation all the way through the life of your roof, we can help extend its life and keep it in top condition. We understand the idiosyncrasies of each roof type, and know what to look for in the wear and tear and breakdown that occurs.
